The New School Center for NYC Affairs recently published a study on the relationship of Elementary/Middle School vs. Specialized High Schools. One take away is that a dominating majority of the students admitted to the NYC Specialized High Schools (ie. Stuyvesant High School) come from the top 45 Middle/Elementary Schools. These 45 schools are Citywide G&T schools (K-8) and/or highly rated schools with Gifted Program. As one parent summarizes the whole process: Elementary school G&T paves the way to higher education.
